STRONGER FAMILIES
INFORMATION
INFORMATION
Our classes are open to any parent and youth struggling.
Stronger Families’ is an initiative of Lassen Intervention that supports families, through education in emotion/anger management and social emotional learning, guided by a trauma-informed lens. The collective offering is for caregivers and court impacted juveniles. The education and therapeutic support empowers families with productive communication, life building tools, and capacity in the least restrictive environment to support justice-impacted families. The evidence-based curriculum is approved through the Lassen County Probation Department.
- Parallel services are provided to guardians and juveniles in the 16 to 24-week program.
- Sessions are held once a week, for 90 minutes and are two separate groups: caregivers and juveniles.
- Sessions have a maximum of 10-12 participants per class (juveniles to caregivers).
- Participants may enter only through an intake process.

Goals
GOALS
Goals for the 16 to 24-Week Program:
- Placement stability
- Enhance Family Wellness skills such as positive parenting solutions, improving family interactions, making difficult decisions, managing individual roles within family
- Increase skills to manage anger: address stressful situations, appropriate communication, problem-solving, and how to change and manage anger or aggression
- Increase self-ability to manage emotions: recognizing emotional situations, manage feelings, deal with difficult situations and people, and improve pro-social skills and positive self-care
- Relationship management to address healthy conflict, setting clear expectations, recognizing emotions and needs of others and how to address them, building trust
- Address codependency traits, and support healthy individuation of teenagers in a healthy home environment. This area helps identify unhealthy relationship patterns, recognize warning signs, set healthy boundaries, provide emotional support, and functioning independently
EVALUATION CULTURE
EVALUATION CULTURE
Information:
Stronger Families, as an initiative of Lassen Intervention, embodies an evaluation culture. We engaged a design thinking approach to generate opportunities that benefit our users. We begin by asking users, stakeholders, and ourselves, “What works?” As a process, Stronger Families encompasses an evaluation plan co-created with the expectation to implement an intervention and evaluate it from beginning to end, and along the way!
Intake (baseline measure):
(1) Themes assessment
(2) PreTests: ARISE curriculum (website), CERQ (Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire), and Confidence surveys (developed by E. Darley and J. Cunningham)
(3) Identity video (former juvenile justice user developed)
Engagement (process measure):
(1) Therapy entry point: Brief Trauma Questionnaire
(2) User and facilitator rating for every point of service (pre/post)
Outtake (outcome measure):
(1) Themes assessment
(2) Post Tests: ARISE curriculum (website), CERQ (Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire), and Confidence surveys (developed by E. Darley and J. Cunningham)
(3) Identity video (former juvenile justice user developed) and watch both side by side
Within the implementation, we will incorporate new information to drive program improvements in real-time. Our caregivers of justice-impacted juveniles and the juveniles themselves deserve an intervention that will reconnect them with the opportunities for long-term health outcomes of improved educational attainment, mental wellness, and safe housing.
